Ao Nang villas are in the centre of Krabi and all of its attractions. In recent times, Ao Nang has grown from a tiny fishing village into a major international tourist destination. The town consists of a main street, which is home to restaurants, pubs, shops and other amenities aimed at tourists. The central beach is popular with sunbathers, but there are hundreds of longtail boats in port that offer access to other more remote beaches on the mainland and on nearby islands.

There are plenty of scuba diving companies which offer basic diving courses and others that offer PADI. The local islands are easy to access and uncrowded compared to many of the Phi Phi Islands, so consider these for diving. Climbing is available through Ao Nang based companies although most of the climbs take place in the areas around Railay, Tonsai and Phra Nang beaches.

The main beach at Ao Nang is the main water departure point for the nearby resort of Railay (or Rai Leh), which cannot be accessed by road, and the islands Poda Island and Chicken Island.

Ao Nang is a lively tourist centre. It has the relaxed chilled out vibe of a small town entertainer, the beauty of a beach resort, the modern facilities of the west of home, and a great climate.

The town is fairly small because floating buildings are impractical and cliffs don't readily lend themselves to development so this area looks set to stay undeveloped. You can walk from one side of town to the other in around one hour. Ao Nang is minutes from Krabi Town and Klong Muang Beach and seconds to Noppharat Thara Beach.
