Few places in Thailand can rival the southern province of Krabi for natural beauty and breathtaking scenery.
Resting on the coast of the Andaman Sea, Krabi's bays and beaches are among the best anywhere in South East Asia, and are complimented by the famous lime rocks jutting out from the water. The beaches of Ao Nang, Railay and Koh Phi Phi are international tourist destinations, rivaling any holiday location in the world. Ten years ago, Krabi was just a small fishing community with a population of less than 50,000 people. Oh, how things change!
The famed coastline of Krabi, Southern Thailand remains spectacular and a perfect destination for couples and families. Krabi is contrasted to Phuket in being less developed and lowed cost.
Krabi Town villas are located in a vibrant and hearty centre point. The nightlife is growing rapidly and nightspots are appearing all the time. The highlights in the area are a few modern clubs, some quiet bars and a handful of excellent restaurants, the best of which is "King Arthur Williams," owned by an ex heavy weight boxer and damn good cook.
Krabi Town is an excellent spot for travellers to organize trips to explore this beautiful province. The main pier on the Chao Fah River has all the details for ferries to Koh Phi-Phi, Koh Jum and Koh Lanta as well as longtails to explore the islands and bays.
There's plenty to do in Krabi town. The most famous attraction, Tiger Cave, is a beautiful collection of small temples and natural cave dwellings, still used by local monks. In each cave are Buddhist shrines and monuments. Wat Sai Thai is Krabi's central temple and the meeting point for any Buddhist events. Khao Khanap Nam is a mountain range and an entrance to Krabi. It is accessible by a boat trip from the provincial landing. Krabi has many tiny off-shore islands with beautiful unspoilt beaches and bays. One of the better trips is the "Four Islands Tour", a tour of five islands taking in Chicken Island, James Bond Island and a few nice bays.
Villas in Krabi Town are few and far between which makes them even more of a catch. The area is restricted in terms of development because of certain restrictions imposed by the natural landscape, so it looks lie a Krabi villa stay will always be an exclusive and rare experience.
