Koh Samui Guide
Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand and fast becoming one of the world’s most sought after holiday locations. With outstanding natural beauty alongside a vibrant nightlife and a superior international restaurant scene, Koh Samui is the ideal location for a long and laid-back Thailand villa holiday.
Koh Samui is part of the Angthong archipelago, which features the untouched Angthong National Marine Park, and area so mesmerizingly beautiful that it inspired Alex Garland to write his book musing an earthly paradise, The Beach and has gone on to frame and inspire this generations’ shared vision of paradise. Trips are available to the park on a daily basis via speed boat, and tours take you on kayaks into the inner reached of the location.
Chaweng Beach is easily the most popular area of Koh Samui for its endless sandy beach, boasting water sports and colourful vibrancy, and at night, lively entertainment area full of clubs and bars, as well as choice of some of the finest restaurants on the island. Green Mango dominates the club scene, a club so famous that it has an entire street named after it, a street that is transformed into a frenzy during festival and sporting occasions.
The quieter towns of Bophut, Maenam and Lamai allow for a more peaceful villa holiday, with some fantastic views, walking streets and top Koh Samui golfing. In Lamai you can expect to enjoy a reasonable amount of hedonism after dark at an acceptable distance from your accommodation.
Further afield, the neighbouring island of Koh Phangnan is world famous for its monthly full moon party – a heavy dose of beach partying bringing together revelers from around the world. For the rest of the month, the island is quiet, relaxed, and a perfect escape. Koh Tao, is also within easy reach, again world renowned, in this case as a Thailand SCUBA Diving location.
