Krabi

Krabi is a province in South West Thailand with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and unbelievable good value luxury property. Krabi is a small city with a population of around 20,000, located just upriver from the coast. Krabi City has no beaches, so visitors usually go straight to the coastal towns of Had Yao, Ao Nang or Rai Leh (Railay/Railey). Krabi villas are found throughout the area.

To get to Krabi, take a train to Suratthani and then a bus from there, or use the direct connections by road or air. Krabi International Airport is ten kilometres from the city limits, fifteen kilometres from the city centre, forty kilometres from Ao Nang and twenty three kilometres from Had Yao.

Buses also run from the east coast with connections to the Seatran Koh Samui ferry. State-run BKS buses are more reliable than the privately own shuttle buses who will leave you outside partner restaurants in the middle of nowhere for literally hours. Shuttle buses run between Krabi airport and Phuket airport several times a day.

Krabi is located on Highway 4. Regular truck taxis from Ao Nang to Krabi are available. Ferries run from and to Koh Phi Phi, Koh Jum and Koh Lanta every day. The normal passenger ferry starts from a new passenger port about three kilometres outside Krabi.

Ao Nang Beach is Krabi's most developed beach, with palm trees, a wide range of accommodation, travel services and a good variety of restaurants featuring both local and international cuisine. Railay or Railey or Raharley Beach features limestone cliffs sheltering incredible beaches, the most beautiful is Railay. The peninsula of Railay is surrounded by the Andaman Sea, lush jungle, and twisted rock Tonsai Beach has some good gyms, jagged rock faces and a convergence of hippies around the laid back beach bar, “Shun’t ‘Av Ta.” Hat Yao is the longest, and emptiest, stretch of beach on mainland Krabi

Tiger Cave Temple is a temple that serves as a religious site for the monks who live and worship there, with a maze of natural caves in an overgrown jungle valley where stone tools, pottery remains and the mold for making Buddha footprints have been excavated.

Krabi town is cheaper than any of the tourist spots, covering food, drinks and goods. There are two perfectly Thai night markets in Krabi town and a vogue ‘Strike-a-Pose” department store where real items can be found at low prices “Points-Mean-Prizes.”

There is a pleasant night market near the promenade next to the pier. It’s one of the many things to see and do in Krabi.
